WORKSHOP sat oct 24th | newcastle

subverting expectations🪩

An act development workshop tailored for the freaks & geeks who want the audience to pick up what they're putting down. Whatever weird & wonderful thing you want to put on stage, there's a way to elevate it! In this workshop we'll go over act development strategies & how to apply them to the art you're trying to transform into a physical, living thing.

Generally, the people attracted to my work are artists who want to subvert expectations - a noble & necessary desire! This workshop looks at act development from the perspective of setting you up to be understand HOW to set the expectations - and then to subvert them.

Sometimes wrangling an act from the ether & weaving it into physical form feels like putting an outfit on a disagreeable cat. In this workshop we'll hit some key elements that will help you translate your vision, and rituals that may appease the act into being born (it may also work on disagreeable cats, but I've never been brave enough to try)

okay more about me now

❤️‍🔥

Why should you listen to me about act creation processes????

I make acts for weird creeps who love fantasy, myth & ethereal beauty. The act ideas that wrap their tentacles around my brain necessitate me learning to actively translate the vision: Mary Magdalene as a Racecar Driver, The Persistence of Venus (an act combining the aesthetics of The Persistence of Memory and Birth of Venus) , Bunny Boiler (in which I am a bunny god who gives its godship over to a stranger through the power of ritual)- my point is, I make it WORK, and so I believe there's no oddball idea you could have that we can't find a bridge to.

(& i want to more art from the (sacred)heart in the world)
